Subject: Re: [Leica] Shallow rear M lens cap?

Almost all the early M bayonet rear lens caps (IZQOO/14051) are shallower
than the present 14269. The exception is the rear cap for the 21SAs and the
first version of the 28/2.8. They took a special deep cap (IROOW/14042).
When the 21/2.8 was introduced in 1980, the new 14269 universal rear lens
cap was also introduced as well. Most of the new wide-angle lenses will not
accept the IZQOO/14051 cap. The IZQOO/14051 should be very easy to find
used, probably easier than the 14269.
