Peter,

The few shallow "pancake" rear M lens caps I have are marked Leitz
and are on lenses I bought perhaps 30 years ago. The outside depth is
13mm plus 1mm for three very small feet. Internal clearance between
the back of the four locking lugs on the lens bayonet and the inside rear
of the cap is 4-5mm. The caps are made of a polystyrene like material
rather than the later polyethylene ones.

I find carrying both old and new caps a problem, you can't put shallow
ones on lenses with protruding rear elements. If you can't find any,
contact me off list.
