actually even if the item was under USA passport warranty, Leica Camera
doesn't cover fire or theft cases for broken or blown up Leicas...

It's a good thing the selling included this little disclaimer:

"Photographic equipment should be serviced , prior to regular use. 
This will ensure that all controls/functions, are accurate&working 
correctly.Most likely the item has not been used in quite some time..... "
