If all the airlines follow PanAm and disallow any hand carry items, then you will be forced to buy your film overseas and have it processed there before you return. Even going digital isn't going to help you, given the liklihood that your equipment will be stolen. I was quite disturbed to read Van Riper's account of items being stolen from a locked Pelican case packed INSIDE of an old duffel! Like Dave, I wonder if eliminating carryons completely is a practical idea. - --Jim - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Hillman" <dave@hillmanimages.com> To: <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us>; "Steve LeHuray" <icommag@toad.net> Sent: Saturday, September 29, 2001 3:44 PM Subject: Re: [Leica] Van Ripper Writes About Flying/Carry On > If I travel by air on business/vacation, I rely on having my lap top/cameras. > If I can not take the equipment onboard and the airlines will not guarantee > delivery if checked and there is any reasonable chance of theft, why go?
