to hold a little lens cap on."

Ah yes, the world would fall to pieces without gaffa tape, plastic wood and
cable ties...well I know *mine* would. Did I ever mention the time I mounted
an F3T+MD4+20mm to the wing of a microlight using mostly cable ties and
gaffa tape? The pilot was doing circuits, on the fourth or fifth one he
landed out of sight on the other side of the airfield, removed the camera,
and took off again. *MY* how we laughed as he made the next pass overhead...

An old friend used to say that smooth duct tape was a sure sign of
craftsmanship.

"Or better yet, just lose the cap, feel bad for a little while, forget it
isn't there and get on with picture taking."

I have this idea that if the number of lens caps I can find ever reaches
parity with the number of lenses I own, something really bad will happen. I
have no idea where they go. If I'm really unlucky young Honeyball will be
along in a minute to tell everyone about my 90mm f5.6 Super Angulon XL which
has lost both its caps, and lives in an old sock as a consequence.

Maybe I should just throw *all* the caps away? It's a very tempting thought.
