As an aside to the point of your post, I have a question. Basically, what if your "gear" is damaged during the course of inspection. Who pays for the damage? I've ALWAYS been nervous about just "handing over" my $6k (at the time) notebook computer (or my much more than $6k camera gear) to someone who "does not care for it the way I do" (I tried to say this as nice as I could), and say they drop it...somehow damage it...the consequences to me are quite high...it could ruin an entire trip or business deal.
