That depends on the specific area being examined, but yes, in some respects, it
is much worse in France.  However, in France it is not erosion of rights so much
as a refusal to begin recognizing rights that were never recognized in the first
place.

It is ironic and sad that France, one of the birthplaces of photography, is
today one of the most restrictive concerning its practice, among the developed
nations.
