Luggites, and other crazies.....
    According to Jim Lager, in his Leica Illustrated Guide Vol. III (1979),
and I quote...
    "About 1962, at serial number 1844001, the Summilux was recomputed to
give better performance. It appears that official acknowledgment of this
change did not occur, until late 1965. ......In late in 19658 the silver
anodized and black paint versions lenses were discontinued and replaced by a
black anodized 11114."
    This would explain Mr. van Hasbroeck's 1968 and serial number quote.
