I hate when that happens. ;-)

Here's an idea you might like to try: I made a habit of always spinning the
rewind "knob" before opening my camera back; it is immediately discernible
whether there's film in the camera and whether it's been rewound. If you prefer
not to fully retract the film leader, then cock the shutter to test for loaded
film. It's quick, easy, and reliable. Once I made it an unthinking habit, I
never again accidentally opened a camera back with loaded film.
