Yep, did it for years, for both 35mm and MF.  I usually dipped my index and middle fingers in the Photoflo bath first, then ran the film between them.  No streaking, no scratching - it worked fine.  There's less chance of grit accumulating on your fingers than in a sponge anyway.

Does anyone else use fingers? For years I used a Dupont photo sponge which
eventually began to crumble, and then, about a year ago, taking someone's
advice on this or another list, and finding myself without a sponge and in
possession of fingers, began wiping the negatives down between fingers 1 and
2, clean fingers of course. For me it works better than the sponge.
