My personal preference is slides.  One of the big advantages for me is organization and storage.  I don't have to keep a separate print or contact sheet as I would with negative film, I can separate individual photos and store each one in different categories without regard to the photos before or after it on the strip of negatives, and no odd-sized strips of negatives when I separate disparate photos.

Also some slide films are known for exceptional dark-storage longevity, which is certainly not among the strengths of color negative films.

Color negative film (C41) is more forgiving of exposure errors and can be easier to get good scans from.
