Mine took me around 40 years in photography (and 27 in marriage) before my wife said "You have always wanted one so just buy the bloody thing!" Yes, the modern lenses are superb but in reality your photography will probably be better and more relaxed than the IIc that you are about to get. But there is something about a Leica. It is like driving a 1920's Rolls Royce - you know a modern car is easier to drive, has more comfort and is far more reliable but so what, this is a 1920's Rolls Royce. Even if your new acquisition sits on your shelf for the rest of it's life, it will bring you great joy every time you catch a glimpse of it, as indeed my M3 SS does now it is retired! Shooter is the operative word here. I am not going to start a Leica collection and my Leica of choice would be that lovely M3 SS that I saw at my camera store today.
