When Ansel died, he had incredibly bad arthritis. Fingers deformed, etc...
Who knows the ramifications of chemical exposure.

I've spent 90% of my darkroom life without tongs or gloves. But now I use
tongs in developer, fingers in hypo. Gloves in color film stabilizer.
