I too have seen it and it is static electricity.  This is why I always keep
a pair of scissors around to cut the tape rather then rip it.

	Yep.  It's static electricity, and it happens all the time when you
tear tape off a plastic surface.  I've never seen it damage a film.

	I've noticed something strange when I roll some films for
developping .
	When I tear the green sticker , attaching the end of film to the
reel ,
	it flashes a little bit , just like a short spark . 
	Weird and scary for the emulsion !
	Anyone noticed the same ?
