You hate to think the only reason you're not cropping a pi cure in the darkroom
is to hold on to your black borders and your too lazy to reposition your
enlarger but that is going to be the case.
Digital being a different ballgame has none of those issues. 

So there is more of a natural tendency to crop. To rethink your shot.
Ansel turned all his Hasselblad squares into rectangles.
Most (not all) who shoot larger formats are much quicker to crop.
Avedon cropped 90% of the picture out more than once.
Sometimes its good to go over your contacts with a half frame hole.
Lots of very strong shots you've passed over becuase of loose framing.
...not getting close enough.
