I enjoyed looking at them, as I have been traveling a lot to Italy. Like you say, some of them are more or less personal pictures from a trip, but never mind, we all take that type of pictures, and it is always interesting to see the work of others. The strongest picture is the beggar in Florence. I like the picture as it is, uncropped and in color. It shows the object in a context. Italy has a good welfare system, but maybe he is a refugee from Albania, who knows? About color vs. B/W, I prefer the color version. I visited the Magnum exhibition in Copenhagen/Louisiana a few months ago, and this convinced me to use more color film. I have been too conservative, using Tri-X or XP2 for almost all my own pictures. Generally speaking, sometimes B/W is better, sometimes color. A recent example is Kyle Cassidy's Bucharest story, where he mixed color and B/W images. I think Kyle made the correct choice for every single picture. /Hans > > http://www.2alpha.net/~pklein/italy/index.htm >
