Wow. I think that my best photography moments are when I *give*
someone a print that captures some special moment. I have a hard time
finding presents that are more than just "things", and photographs are
my way of putting something of myself into a present and of doing
something special/personal for the recipient. My throat tightens when
I go to a friend's house and see one of my shots up on the mantle. It
might be different if I were musical, or could throw pottery, or...,
but this is as close as I can get to sharing something of myself in a
gift.

I'd be proud of making that kind of a connection if it were a paid
job, but it's really special for me when it can be a gift.

And yes, it's easy for me to say this given that I do something else
to make a living.
