I have a Romney Leica KS-15 (a.k.a. the civilian M2) repair manual, and it's very much "step-by-step". Unlike the Romney Contax RF manual (which reads like a very detailed ransom note), the M2 manual is actually written by the US Army Electronics Command, and it's very detailed.
