You do not need a longer column, just turn your enlarger base 180 degrees on your enlarger table so that the enlarger is near the edge. Then loosen the wing nut on the base of the column, rotate the enlarger 180 degrees and project onto the floor or to a platform near the floor and you have the larger sizes. The column will not be in the way if you do not raise the enlarger to high. ( Make sure you place some weight on the baseboard to prevent the enlarger toppeling. ). This sounds primitive but it works fine and is simple.
