Whenever someone says he/she has a lot of > equipment, that is somehow viewed as an open invitation to be rude. I don't see equipment envy, I see a normal reaction to, for lack of a better term, grandiosity. Do you walk into a party (of people who don't know you) and say "gee, I had to drive my self here in my new Mercedes 600, since my Lambo was in the shop having a tune up for the vintage race I'm hosting next week at Limerock, and to top it all off, my chauffer was on vacation" then rattling your Rolex and saying "my, I took the Rolex with me and I meant to take the Patek...darn!"? I certainly understand the excitement of getting new camera gear...believe me, but I also understand how, what comes across as 'bragging', about it (not necessarily intentionally) can put people off. I believe questions can be asked/answered without all the superfluous ostentatiousity that transpires here occasionally.
