As suggested by others, buy an older model without the chip. I use MIS quadtone
inks in my Epson 700 and the results are excellent.

Epson's new chip is of course designed to prevent use of aftermarket cartridges,
but I doubt that it would be considered anti-competitive in the legal sense,
given that there is vigorous competition in the printer market between Epson,
Canon, HP etc.
