Dennis,
The other problem with ring flash and the SL/60mm Macro combo is that it's 
almost impossible to find a 60mm filter thread adapter ring to connect to 
the ring flash!
I ended up with the front engraving ring off a cannibalised 60 Macro 
superglued to the appropriate connecting ring.

If you want to use a ring flash it's more difficult without ttl.
A problem for live insects in the wild
