Perhaps those of us who actually use the collapsible 50mm lens can chime in with their experience. The collapsible 50/2 can use any A42 or E39 50mm hood. SOOFM - a very large folding rectangular "barn door" style of hood ITOOY/12580 - a narrow cylindrical hood (for the Elmar) ITDOO - a funnel shaped hood with a single row of mounting prongs IROOA/12571 - a funnel shaped hood with a double row of mounting prongs 12585/12538 - metal/plastic reverse funnel vented hood 12549 - short cylindrical screw in hood (for the newest Elmar) The only hood that "might" mount in reverse on a collapsible 50 (Summicron or Elmar) would be the IROOA/12571.
