Subject: Re: [Leica] Correct Hood for a Collapsible 50mm Summicron ?

This is the third time I have seen the question so here is the start of an
answer. Perhaps those of us who actually use the collapsible 50mm lens can
chime in with their experience.

The collapsible 50/2 can use any A42 or E39 50mm hood.

SOOFM - a very large folding rectangular "barn door" style of hood

ITOOY/12580 - a narrow cylindrical hood (for the Elmar)

ITDOO - a funnel shaped hood with a single row of mounting prongs

IROOA/12571 - a funnel shaped hood with a double row of mounting prongs

12585/12538 - metal/plastic reverse funnel vented hood

12549 - short cylindrical screw in hood (for the newest Elmar)

The only hood that "might" mount in reverse on a collapsible 50 (Summicron
or Elmar) would be the IROOA/12571. You could then use a 14033 cap to finish
it off.
