Yes.
Using the channel mixer in Photoshop gives you possibilities like 
filtering B&W films. So you can make good conversions from color scans. 

BUT

XP2 and T400CN are vastly superior to any 400 speed color neg film.
I'd say better than or equal to 100 speed color film.

If you want B&W shoot it that way. The films are a lot better.

Also Kodak has a new B&W Portra film coming in April.
Its made to print on color paper and give neutral prints.
How well it works remains to be seen.
