I have had the same experience this winter in the Swiss and Austrian Alps. The
sunny 16 rule definitely needs to be modified, careful metering (preferably with a
spot meter) and/or bracketing is strongly advised, and in the case of B&W film a
modification in development to avoid the snow becoming one big featureless
highlight.
