It could be the humidity here, several such Leica-meters I came across were off or dead. The guy at the Leica service centre said some elements inside could be oxidized. So getting another used item doesn't seem to be a reliable option. People are still using their M4s. It's such a pity that Leica has given up on such an important & necessary accessory for this very nice & popular camera. You know, I sent a e-mail to one of the guys at their German office some years ago & he said that the meter itself was not directly manufactured by Leica & that I should contact the original manufacturer instead. The meter came with a box with the Leica trademark on it. It's like sending a Sony video camera with a damaged lens element back for repair & Sony turns you away saying that their lens was made by Zeiss. Thanks again Edmund - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - John Collier wrote : Kindermann Canada still has MR meter parts (do not know about MC or M) but the parts are very expensive. Other than CLA and recalibrate, it is usually cheaper to buy another used meter. I had a meter with a bad meter movement (broken and missing hairsprings), the new movement was more than a mint used meter.
