I think we have the 'Yanks' to thank for any longevity in the 'English' version.
Just like those wars, we can count on the good guys across the ocean to turn up near the finish to assure the right result.

Isn't it paradoxical that less than two months after French
Hermes International was pleased to announce that it has
acquired 31.5%  of the share capital of Leica Camera AG for
a total investment of 17.7 million Euro, Umschau
Zeitschriftenverlag <http://www.uzv.de/special.htm>, the
editor of Leica Fotografie International announce that their
2/2001 issue will be the last published in French.

;-)

Now, I know that LFI is not a Leica Camera publication, and
I'm sure that LFI in French wasn't profitable and that since
a long time.

I only hope that the English version will live longer.
