Thank you, Rolf - -----Original Message----- From: John Collier [mailto:jbcollier@home.com] Sent: Monday, February 12, 2001 12:21 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Disassembly of 35 Summaron Lens disassembly procedure for a bayonet mount lens: Remove lens retaining ring from the back of the lens. Pull out the optical assembly from the focusing barrel. Remove C-ring from the back of the optical assembly and the two connecting screws from the slots in the aperture dial. Pull off the aperture dial. Unscrew the centre cone from the front of the optical assembly. Lift off the name ring. Remove the three screws now exposed and lift off the filter ring. A retaining ring holds the front lens group (The group itself is not threaded but it's a close fit and can jam easily. If it does jam, refit the retaining ring and try again) Unscrew the rear lens group. A hole is provided in the rim of the inside element mount for the purpose of pulling it out with a small wire hook. This mount is not threaded either. Shake out the slotted ring and the diaphragm blades forward. Look at all the little pieces, shards of chipped glass and cry. Buy a bottle of single malt and look in Shutterbug for another lens. Cheers, John Collier If the threaded rings are binding after a few turns, apply a SMALL amount of WD-40 with a q-tip. Disassembly info was from the "Leica Camera Repair Handbook" by Thomas Tomosy. > From: Rob McElroy <idag@pce.net> > > Hello All, > > I have a screwmount 3.5cm f3.5 Leitz Summaron that has quite a bit of > cloudiness on some internal elements that I want to clean off.
