But doesn't it get awfully dim?  f/4.8 x 2 = effective aperture of f/9.6,
right?  I think would have stayed with the 280 f/2.8: 400 f/4 with 1.4x, 560
f/5.6 with 2x, 800 f/8 with 1.4x and 2x.  I shot it with the 1.4x extender
on the lens and it's eminently hand-holdable.  Superb ergonomics.  Poor Ted
had to wrench it (and the R8 it was attached to) from my fingers to get it
back ;)
