Sorry to dispel your dream, but Leica does not make any of the glass used
in their lenses.

They buy it, off the shelf, out of the glass catalogs from Hoya and Schott.

Any glass that Leica might make is for experimental purposes only. I'm not
sure they still do this. Erwin would know.

There is a very large optical quality difference between some M and R
lenses. You cannot even begin to compare the 24-M ASPH against the 24-R
lens. The 24mm M lens is head and shoulders better. As is the new 50/1.4 R
lens over the 50/1.4 M lens. And the 90 APO ASPH M lens is way ahead of
either 90mm R lens. And the list goes on, and on...

Where did you ever get such a reduculous idea?
