Sorry, but I have never seen a Leica M6 at $2826 in Germany. That would
be almost 6000 DM at current FX rates. They cost more like 4500-5000 DM
at most, and if you look for bargains, you can find them for 4000 DM.
The same is true of the R8; in fact, I got mine at Foto Lambertin in
Cologne for 2997 DM last year (new, not demo). For a visiting U.S.
tourist, who can get the VAT back at the airport, prices are even more
attractive.

I agree that prices in France are ridiculous. When I lived in Belgium, I
often went to Paris and was always amazed that anybody would pay the
prices being asked in the shops on Blvd. Beaumarchais.
