If your max bid is $100 and someone then bids $100.01, That should read "if your max bid was $100 AND the CURRENT high bid has not been reached by the proxy bidding and someone then bids $100.01" (or something to that effect). For example, the auction is at $50, and you place a $100.01 bid...after your bid the bid price is $100.01, that means the previous high bidder placed a maximum bid of $100. But, if the auction was already at $100, their system would not accept a bid of $100.01, since it did not meet the minimum bid increment increase.
