Franck Maubuisson jotted down the following:

Noiser than what? Noiser than itself at other speeds? Noiser than
mechanical SLRs? Noiser than other M cameras?

At 1/15s or 1/30s is where you have the shift to the slow speed mechanism
inside the Ms. The sound is a characteristic "bounce" or "echo" that lasts
a little longer than the exposure. Other mechanical cameras such as the
Voigtländer Bessas and the Nikon FM2n have a different mechanism and do not
sound the same.

Compare your M2 to another M2, or to another M camera. I'm sure yours is
fine, it's just the peculiarities of the M shutter.
