Subject: [Leica] tape for tripod legs
From: Tom Finnegan <TomF@piengr.com>

I bought a Gitzo 1227 tripod and a Bogen carbon one monopod over the weekend
(both wonderfully light). Took them out early Sunday morning in
below-freezing weather and found my fingers nearly frostbitten
carrying/adjusting them.

What's the best tape to use to cover the upper segment?

Thanks,
Dan

While pipe insulation will work, I find that it tends to rip and tear fairly
easily and doesn't provide the best grip. Personaly, I'd go with Cinelli
cork tape that is made for bicycle handlebars. There are lots of other bike
tapes that will work as well, made in a wild array of colors and patterns.
Wander into a bike shop and you'll have a huge selection.
