It's nice to see the wood through it there is no more livable surface to be around you can still make out the wood pattern nicly through multitudinous coats; and at least for black and white work the resin will repel your darkroom chemicals and stay looking pretty good. One of these decades i might sand mine down again and give it a few more coats to make it look totally good as new. 8 years, so far so good. Occasionally I'll leave my trays out a few days and don't wash up well enough. So my surface is not perfect. My cubetainer of indicator stop bath was dripping down on it for a week and seems to have made a purple stain. Also a slight stain from where my cubetainer of Rabid fix A has dripped. I now use not a white spigot but the hole style. mark rabiner :)
