Well, to be fair, the French and British armies late sliced through the Wehrmacht "like a hot knife through butter" -- after all, Germany DID lose the War! (And the Soviet army did even more damage to the German military despite severe problems with supply and training.) Large parts of most German cars are now made overseas -- VW has for years been producing a LOT of its stuff in Mexico, for instance. And Contax, of course, has been effectively a Japanese-built product for a quarter of a century. There is no special cachet to made in Germany. There is a special cachet to Leica quality.
