Mine is slightly on the stiff (I'm not sure if this is really the right word) side but is very smooth from end to end. I have no problem focusing it with the camera up to my eye. I just took out my other two new lenses: 24/2.8 asph and 35/1.4 asph and can't tell much difference between the three of them. The 24 and 35 seem a little easier to turn, but this is due to the focusing tab on them. All three are very smooth to focus. I used to have a 75/1.4 and it was harder to turn to focus than is my 90. Have a great Thanksgiving. I'm off to take a bunch of happy snaps of the family tomorrow. Dick Hemingway Plano, TX
