Actually a lot of promotional head shots i do is with the Hasselblad using the
technique you mention.
The tripod frees me to watch the person from close to the camera position.
and i'm not stuck to the camrea. I even use the real long cord on my ELM.
But I'm cropping a vertical out of a square and medium format can take that.
