Thanks for the tip!  I haven't had a chance to try it with real film, but I
did take the thing apart and saw the small serrated teeth inside the spool
that you referred to.  Looks like it should work quite nicely.  I was
resigned to loading the thing in my darkroom!  It never would have occured
to me to try loading it with the cassatte are ready assembled.
