Interested that the Apo-Summicron-R 2/180 is the only lens held up to the 4 to 5
micron highest category.
Thought that highest catagory was reserved for the 100 2.8 macro R or the 90
apo Asph M!

For most of the 90's I shot Pan F in the studio in Rodinal for my 35mm work. 220
plus x for bigger.
I've now switched to Delta 100 in Xtol 1:3 as I've repeated. I'm getting Much
less grain than the Pan F in Rodinal the question is how much less resolution am
i getting. Withought the Rodinal grain slapping me in the face some would say
when looking at my prints that they are much less sharp. Becuase they are now grainless.

But my feeling is that Delta 100 and T Max 100 being tab grain films are darn
close to resolving as well as the thinner but not tab grained Pan F.
By the way both Delta 100 and T Max 100 were never that great in Rodinal,
Waaaaay grainy and mushy but Xtol does wonders with them. I know in the past
Erwins take on Xtol was much less then mine but perhaps the results from the DDX
Ilford Liquid might be in the same category.

Coincidently last night i downloaded and printed a 12 page PDF file from Kodak;
P-255 Kodak Technical Pan film.
I was intrigued that when you buy it in bulk it comes in a roll of 150 feet not
100 feet as it is so much thinner it fits in the bulk loader anyway. I suspect
the price point of getting these 150 rolls would be tempting. It sure is pricey
by the roll and with its special developer a real pain in the but price wise.
But I've heard it can just be run in dilute versions of many developers.
My ubiquitous for me yellow-green filter I suspect would put it's
panchromatic-ness right; flesh-tones and otherwise.
But i never have tried Pan F in Xtol.
It's time for me to test that against the results I'm getting with Delta 100 in
that same developer this time.
Most of the shots in my portfolio from the 80's were done on Kodak Panatomic at
50. 50 is a speed I'm used to for quality 35mm work; Studio strobes or tripods
on location.
So Erwins premise idea here that we are not lost without APX 25 I'm in complete
agreement with!!!!
Mark Rabiner
excited about shooting some tech pan with my 90 apo Asph!
