I would say that if its performance is even marginally better than the one I have, it's a good deal. It seems that the better scanners- the 'professional' ones are mainly able to scan a greater volume in much less time!- resolutions remaining the same! The Scan Dual I have scans inputs of 2438dpi, and if I output a TIF file of a whole 35mm frame, at 2400dpi, I have a filesize somewhere in the neighborhood of 485M! Lots of resolution! More than I need for what I do! The software is adequate, but I got a third party program called VUESCAN from Hamrick Software, and it allows the hardware to do multiple scans and so the resolution is even better, if you want! (takes a couple of minutes per scan, though!)
