A great point. This vectors in on my portfolio diatribe...we know the work
of the masters as great because it is presented to us in completely reified
form, no excuses. We see the best of it in the best possible light. You can
go through page after page of a "great" photographer's contact sheets and
not see one great picture. Not unlike many of us! But they--or
somebody--took the time and care to present the best of the work the way it
should be presented. This is, in fact, a key to accomplishment.
