I was listening to the BBC on shortwave last night when the shock wave from the weekend's coronal mass ejection arrived (geomagnetic equivalent of a tsunami) and neatly knocked the signal down into the background static. Should make for some decent auroral displays, much further south (in the Northern Hemisphere, further north in the Southern Hemisphere) than usual.
