I couldn't believe it so I had to try!!!!!

Yes - if you take the battery out a TTL wont fire flash in the hotshoe OR Pc
socket - I might have believed the first but not the second.  Beginning to
be glad that I kept a nikon FM2 and a nice 50 f1.4 as my other camera (LOL)
