Yeah, that would make sense if the dot was grey, but it's white -- meaning it has very high reflectance. Colours with very high reflective values are all very close to white (look at a colour chart to see this). So, by that reasoning, the idea that if the white dot becomes coloured its reflectance could be adversy affected is not such as mad one after all.
