Subject: [Leica] MR meter query

Is it (relatively) common for the battery test switch to develop faulty
contacts, leading to erratic readings, in both normal and test modes? If
so, is this a matter of cleaning or of replacement?
    My needle jumps all over the place if I touch/wiggle the test switch
on front while reading a scene.
