This is quite normal, I had the same difficulties with my R 28/2.8 (which I have used for two years and no longer have). It is a characteristic of wideangle lenses with large depth-of-field. Nothing wrong with the camera or your eyes :-) Of course, the wider max f-stop a wideangle lens has, the more the image will tend to "snap" into focus (brighter viewfinder image will assist accurate focusing). Focusing is easier with a Summilux-R 35 than with an Elmarit-R 28.
