Somewhere around the early 1980s Bob got rid of all his Leicas and lenses. He had a going feud with E.Leitz (sort of). He was very upset that they did not follow his recommendation to GO OUT OF THE CAMERA BUSINESS. They didn't listen to him, so he gave up on Leicas. His last Leica was his finely tuned, beautiful M3 with 50mm f/2 1960s Summicron. I think it ended up at Ken Hansen's place. Bob did keep his Zeiss Ikon Contax IIa with 50mm f/2 CArl Zeiss Sonnar and 50mm f/3.5 (rigid) Carl Zeiss Tessar, for a few years. He gave it up the day he sold this to me. Still have In 1965 I visited Bob in Wetzlar. While there he sold me a IIIb Leica with a spring motor for the $200 it cost him to buy and have overhauled. I had this for about one or two years and sold it for the same $200 it cost me (to be ethical) to a friend, whom I hear sold it for a big profit not long after. So much for ethics. Ed
