Last time I was in the mountains I noticed a definite shortage of trees at
altitude. When I did find one, it usually looked better in the picture than
as a support.

Anyway, trees at altitude have a tough life and probably don't appreciated
being attacked by photographers. Of course, not cutting the tree down to
improve the view does show laudable restraint...
