Subject: [Leica] Re: R8 Sales in HK and Taiwan

Dear Luggers,
My new found friend at Schmidt told me yesterday that R8 sales are slow in
Hong Kong. Don't know what that means in terms of numbers (a few hundred
units a year??) He thought it was maybe because the camera is too big for
local tastes and indeed, I handled the R8 with motordrive and the combo is
really bulky for me. Curiously, I was told that sales of R8s in Taiwan are
brisk - so the difference in sales between HK and Taiwan - isn't because
customers are Chinese. If I were to venture into Leica SLRs I think it
would be with an R6.2 for the size alone. On second thought I think I'll
stick with my loaner M6 and the rangefinder series and go out and take
pictures.
Cheers
Howard.
